Installing the widget on your website.

One line of code. Eight platforms covered. If yours isn’t listed, email us - we add new ones as customers ask.

Before you start

Open your portal, go to Settings → Embed, and copy the embed snippet. It looks something like:

<script src="https://schoolassistant.co.uk/widget.js" data-token="YOUR-SCHOOL-TOKEN" async></script>

This is the only line of code you’ll need.

WordPress

Three options, in order of ease:

  1. Block editor: add a Custom HTML block to your footer widget area and paste the snippet.
  2. Theme footer: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer.php, paste before </body>.
  3. Header/footer plugin: if you use WPCode, Insert Headers and Footers, or similar, paste into the Footer Scripts field.

Squarespace

Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer. Paste the snippet. Save.

Wix

Settings → Custom Code → Add Custom Code. Paste the snippet, set “Add Code to All Pages” and “Place Code in Body - end”.

Juniper Education

Site Admin → Settings → Custom Code (you may need to ask Juniper support to enable this). Paste before </body>.

e4education

e4 sites require their support team to add custom scripts. Forward the embed snippet to your e4 account manager and ask them to install it in the global footer.

PrimarySite

Email PrimarySite support with the snippet and ask for it to be added to the global footer. Usually turned around within 1-2 working days.

Weduc

Weduc’s public site editor allows custom HTML in the footer of the parent-facing pages. Settings → Site → Footer code.

Schudio

Schudio sites require their support team to add scripts. Send them the snippet via the support ticketing system.

Verify the install

Open your site in a fresh browser tab. You should see the chat icon in the bottom-right within a few seconds. In the portal, the Embed page will turn green when it detects the snippet on your domain. If it doesn’t show up, check that the snippet is in the rendered HTML using your browser’s “view source”.
